THESE, THOSE, THEY SÖZCÜKLERİYLE OLUMSUZ VE SORU CÜMLESİ
Bu dersimizde önceki derste öğrendiğimiz ‘’these, those ve they’’ sözcüklerinin olumsuz ve soru yapılışını göreceğiz. Bildiğimiz gibi tekil cümlelerde cümleyi olumsuz yapmak için ‘’is’’ sözcüğünden hemen sonra ‘’not’’ getiriyorduk.
Çoğul bir cümleyi de olumsuz yapmak için ‘’are’’ sözcüğünden sonra ‘’not’’ sözcüğünü getirmek yeterlidir.
Aynı şekilde ‘’those ve they’’ ile başlayan cümlelerde de ‘’are’’ sözcüğünden sonra ‘’not’’ sözcüğünü getirmek yeterlidir.
Örnek: Those are chairs. (‘douz a: çeız): Şunlar sandalyedir.
Those are not chairs. (‘douz a: not çeız): Şunlar sandalye değildir.
They are baskets. (dey a: ‘ba:skits): Onlar sepettir.
They are not baskets. (dey a: not ‘ba:skits): Onlar sepet değildir.
Konunun zihninizde iyice pekişmesi için aşağıdaki örnekleri inceleyiniz.
These are cars. (di:z a: ka:z): Bunlar arabadır.
These are not cars. (di:z a: not ka:z): Bunlar araba değildir.
Those are bags. (‘douz a: begz): Şunlar çantadır.
Those are not bags. (‘douz a: not begz): Şunlar çanta değildir.
Those are buckets. (‘douz a: ‘bakits): Şunlar kovadır.
Those are not buckets. (‘douz a: not ‘bakits): Şunlar kova değildir.
They are dogs. (dey a: dogz): Onlar köpektir.
They are not dogs. (dey a: not dogz): Onlar köpek değildir.
They are cats. (dey a: kets): Onlar kedidir.
They are not cats. (dey a: not kets): Onlar kedi değildir.
Çoğul cümlenin soru cümlesine dönüştürülmesi tekil cümlelerde yapıldığı gibidir. Hatırlarsanız tekil cümlelerde ‘’is’’ sözcüğü cümle başına alındığında cümle soru haline geliyordu. Aynı şekilde çoğul cümlelerde ‘’are’’ sözcüğü cümlenin başına getirilirse cümle soru haline gelmiş olur.
Örnek: That is a pencil. (det iz ı ‘pensıl): Şu bir kalemdir.
Is that a pencil? (iz det ı ‘pensıl): Şu bir kalem midir?
Örnek: These are books. (di:z a: buks): Bunlar kitaptır.
Are these books? (a: di:z buks): Bunlar kitap mıdır?
Bu soruya cevap vermek istediğimizde cevaba evet veya hayır ile başlamak gereklidir. Çünkü soru cümlesinde de görüleceği üzere bizden bir onay beklenmektedir. Bu soruya verilecek cevaplar aşağıdaki gibidir:
Yes, these are books. (yes, di:z a: buks): Evet, bunlar kitaptır.
No, these are not books. (nou, di:z a: not buks): Hayır, bunlar kitap değildir.
Örnek: Those are chairs. (‘douz a: çeız): Şunlar sandalyedir.
Are those chairs? (a: ‘douz çeız): Şunlar sandalye midir?
Yes, those are chairs. (yes, ‘douz a: çeız): Evet, şunlar sandalyedir.
No, those are not chairs. (nou, ‘douz a: not çeız): Hayır, şunlar sandalye değildir.
